Welcome Democracy Defenders
Today, the Card Campaign released two important cards, both addressing the abuses of the regime’s secret police, also known as ICE and CBP (Customs and Border Protection).
Since the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, it’s become clear that we need to not only know our rights but also learn how to stay safe at marches, rallies, demonstrations, or when observing law enforcement actions, especially as more of us prepare for the upcoming NO KINGS events.
One card highlights the all-important Fourth Amendment, which was created to prevent the government and law enforcement from unreasonable searches and seizures, including entering our homes or searching our property without a judicial warrant. Yet, it’s being violated daily, partly because DHS has authorized ICE and CBP, and partly because too many people are unsure of their rights to stop them.
The other card discusses nonviolent protest and may be even more crucial as we approach NO KINGS events on March 28. Millions of us must participate in a nonviolent protest that day to demonstrate the power of the people.
Following recent events in Minnesota, thousands of new protesters are taking to the streets and corners across the country, with many others wondering how to protest or document ICE. This small card provides tips on being prepared and staying safe. It could be just the encouragement some need to Show Up!
Print up a bunch of cards, then get out there and start distributing them everywhere you go!
Today and every day, we are thankful for every member of the Card Campaign community, knowing that Together, We Are Stronger!
