The Power of We

Like many of you, I am exhausted. Not so much physically, but emotionally drained. That quote, “Oh, I am very weary, Though tears no longer flow; My eyes are tired of weeping, My heart is sick of woe” (Anne Bronte), says a lot for me, maybe for you too.

Looking back to January 20, 2025, and assessing the onslaught that began even before Joe and Jill stepped out the front door, headed home to Delaware, I felt the first strong wave of dread wash over me. Along with hundreds, nay thousands, of others, I had been running around the country, trying to alert everyone to the catastrophe coming our way, as outlined in The Heritage Foundation’s 2023 manifesto, Project 2025. And although I had no idea how severe it would ultimately become, my spidey sense had gone into high alert.

Yet, even though many of us were deeply concerned, I’m not sure that deep down we believed a Nazi Reckoning was imminent. Sure, Trump 1.0 was terrible, and yet we survived. We fought, persisted, and came out swinging like it was a home run. Unfortunately, that’s not how “our” democracy functions in 2025/26. Not when an anti-Constitution Supreme Court of the United States is undermining the constitutional foundation that our founding fathers established.

In 2020, we voted to repair our foundation and seek redemption from the allies we had wronged. This sparked a healing process that pushed America to the forefront of a global economic recovery. We largely regained our allies’ trust. The world—except for the cabal led by Putin—rejoiced. So much seemed within reach, though we knew we still faced a long road ahead to create an even playing field for everyone in America.

We began the journey back to a world that would become COVID-free, and we hoped, more united. We would take care of our own and contribute to the well-being of many less fortunate around the world. We aimed to rebuild an inclusive economy, even if we didn’t always achieve that goal; a genuine effort was underway to create equality and a fair playing field in America.

January 21, 2025, Project 2025 is released. The manifesto that Trump swore up and down he knew nothing about, and then sneered, “fooled you” on day one of his term, as a dictator. Trump 2.0.

The mayhem begins immediately, and the rush of the giant sucking black hole of the “Trump Administration” started the dismantling of our democracy, our country’s wealth, and our positive contributions to the global community. We are still reeling. The strike was nuclear and caused great damage, and the tremors from Project 2025 continue to make us lose our footing.

So now what?

There is more good news than I realize. Sometimes we aren’t aware that we may actually have the upper hand. The relentless beating is confusing and debilitating; however, the signs of the upper hand start with polling, and for Trump, rock bottom is closer than ever. In every area where Trump can be underwater, he is; whether it’s the illegal Iran War he started, our economy in all aspects, the rising gas prices, the cost of goods and food, and the soaring costs of heating our homes and businesses. And so much more!

And our rule-of-law foundation holds even as Trump 2.0 tries their best to ignore and thwart it.

But what about that? Every time the bottom falls out for Trump, he screams new information on the Iran war, or whatever is the beef of the day, that actually has investors and the stock market rocking and rolling like what he says is true! Or there is an “assassination attempt”, but it’s like the fable of crying wolf; these machinations are starting to fall by the wayside.

And then, of course, there are the Epstein files. Release the freaking Epstein files! All the files, unscrubbed and unredacted. When will justice be served for the thousands of women that Epstein and the global sex trafficking ring abused and, in some cases, murdered? This will never go away if we keep it fiercely alive. We can force disclosure the same way we forced disclosure of Epstein 1.0.

For all the evil being wrought, I know, and you know too, that we can quell the evil; we can succeed if we unite, work together, encourage each other, and support each other. Believe in the power of We. They pulled it off in Hungary; Mayor Mamdani is pulling it off in NYC. Cities and states all across America are uniting for democracy and a good life for everyone. We can accomplish this for all of America.

I believe in We.

We had a phenomenal day with the turnout at the No Kings rallies yesterday from small towns to big cities in every state.
