Take Time to Breathe
So much BS comes at us throughout the day. Between whiskey Pete promising obliteration and Trump promising he’ll know when to end the senseless war he started when he feels it in his bones. That’s Trump babble 101; he never graduated to 102 because his brain fell out when he won the presidency through Project 2025’s hooks and crooks. Just so much GOP-MAGA-CRAP spewing out of every politician’s crack, so we know they have no integrity nor have interest in helping anyone but themselves. It’s all wildly inappropriate and ridiculous, too.
So, to help my system not get dragged through the mud by every new revelation and knockout punch delivered by the Evil Trump Regime, I’ve been taking a bit of time each day, in the morning and evening, to orient myself to what is so.
Just a few minutes in a session to check what my spidey sense says and how to prepare. What does my heart feel? Does my brain need a break? Does my soul? And then I gather myself by taking some long, deep breaths: breathe in, breathe out; consciously let the air you breathe in heal you, and the breath you blow out release the toxins. When I am ready, I gather myself together to tread the day with awareness and, if I can, thoughtfulness. And besides being kind to others, I try to be kind to myself, too.

And the evening session, what happened today that concerned or scared me? What was unexpected, and how did I work with that? Was I able to help another? Did I accept help from another, and what do I need right now so I can sleep restfully tonight and not worry about what the next day will bring?
I am in this for the long haul, and most of you are too. Self-care becomes more important, and this is also when it’s really easy not to care for ourselves as we try to do so much. Nonetheless, we must, or we will burn out and fall by the wayside for a while, maybe a long while. We don’t want that, do we? No, of course we don’t.
