Card 28: Fascism and Freedom

DEFENDING OUR FREEDOMS

Our country is facing tough times with daily challenges to our rights, our freedoms, and the American Dream. Everyone can stand up for those freedoms.

  • Speak out. Use your voice to defend your rights.
  • Stand up for others’ freedoms.
  • Don’t obey in advance. Resist. Hold your ground until you must comply.
  • Do what is right, then do the next right thing.
  • Be strong. Be brave. Courage is feeling afraid but doing what’s right anyway.
  • Trust in the truth. Trust in the law.
  • Be a patriot. We all love this country. Say it loudly.
  • Write. Create art and music. Bring joy to others. Help your neighbors.
  • Rest when you need to, then stand back up to protect yourself and others.

We’ve got this. Our nation has faced tough times in the past when the American Dream seemed to fade. By staying strong and resilient, we will get through this period too, building a better country with more opportunities for everyone.

AMERICA’S SHIFT TOWARD FASCISM (DICTATORSHIP)

The Trump administration is rapidly guiding this country toward fascism, similar to Putin’s dictatorship in Russia, by:

  • Rewriting history
  • Spreading hate and fear
  • Inciting violence
  • Demanding total loyalty
  • Threatening minorities and political opponents
  • Suppressing free speech and controlling the media
  • Suppressing voter rights
  • Undermining elections
  • Ignoring the courts
  • Banning books
  • Discrediting science
  • Threatening other nations
  • Glorifying war
